Process Control Engineer

Our client is seeking a Process Control Engineer for their Mississippi location. The Process Control Engineer will be a key contributor and provide support to the overall operation and maintenance objectives. Instrumental in troubleshooting and repairing lumber manufacturing process equipment, completing daily runtime predictive routes all while working as a team to achieve mill wide safety, production, and quality goals.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- PLC controls programming to include networked PLCs.
- HMI programming to build new or modify existing HMIs on a variety of platforms.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electronic circuits and mill network systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics.
- Correctly interprets technical documents for proper execution of assignments.
- Perform quality testing and inspections.
- Works individually or as part of a team with maintenance and management employees
- Shares knowledge, coordinates, and communicates effectively to all levels.
- Understands and uses data to improve productivity.
- Adhere to all mill safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Highly flexible and able to adjust hours and schedule to meet mill needs.
- Recognize opportunities for improvement and help local mill management see the same.
Required Competencies:
- Advanced PLC programming skills
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to maintain mill network systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and configure industrial HMIs.
- Ability to troubleshoot, configure and install AC and DC drives.
- Demonstrates effective and logical troubleshooting skills.
- Self-motivate, reliable, positive attitude, strong work ethic, and respect for others.
- Exhibit an initiative-taking attitude towards process improvement regardless of the type of work required, whether it be operational, mechanical, or electrical
- Solid people skills allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
Education and Experience:
- Degree in engineering or related field or applicable manufacturing experience
- Process controls experience in the manufacturing environment.
- Allen Bradley/ ControlLogix experience
- Lumber manufacturing experience
Physical Requirements:
- You must be able to lift to fifty pounds and work at heights when needed.
- Suitable agility and stamina to permit negotiation of stairs, elevated work platforms, ladders and walking on uneven terrain.
