Our Construction Management team is looking for a Construction Office Engineer to work on heavy civil transportation projects in the Washington D.C. Metro Area, preferably with DDOT and/or MD SHA experience.. This position will be on-site and involves inspecting construction procedures and verifying that work completed by contractors is in accordance with contract documents for roadway and bridge projects, etc.. This position also involves setting up and maintaining project documents and files. The candidate will be a licensed, Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Washington, D.C., Maryland and/or Virginia, with the ability to obtain a P.E. in those jurisdictions through reciprocity.

Responsibilities:
  • Abide by and enforce construction safety rules and regulations.
  • Read and understand contract documents, including plans and specifications.
  • Complete daily inspection reports.
  • Assist in the documentation of pay quantities and development of the Final Estimate.
  • Assure general compliance with standards and specifications.
  • Assure documentation, and accuracy of monthly progress payments.
  • Draft contract change orders.
  • Accurately track change order payments.
  • Log and track material inspection, certification, and acceptance for the project.
  • Prepare monthly pay quantities and development of the Final Estimate.
  • Establish project filing system in accordance with DDOT requirements.
  • Log and manage project submittals, RFIs and correspondence.
  • Create meeting agendas and minutes; distribute and file to relative attendees.
  • Review and file project daily reports.
  • Prepare construction closeout documents.
  • Other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional licensure in the District of Columbia required. Professional Engineering License in another State is acceptable only if ability to acquire a DC PE within 6 months.
  • At least 6+ years of experience in the inspection of bridge and roadway construction projects.
  • The following certifications are preferred:
    • NICET Level III
    • ACI Certification or MARTCP Certifcation
    • Traffic Control Coordinator (TCC)
    • Osha 30 Hours
    • Applicable DC Department of Transportation Certifications
