We are seeking a dynamic Managing Director to lead the growth and strategic direction of our DMV presence. This role is responsible for expanding our presence reach in the region through targeted business development, high-level client engagement, and operational leadership. The ideal candidate will drive market growth, oversee project delivery, and build a strong local team aligned with the firm’s broader vision and values. Responsibilities Lead and manage the DMV Civil Engineering department, ensuring adherence to project, budgetary, and schedule constraints. Lead strategic growth and development of Nitsch’s DMV presence, including staffing, operations, and market presence. Drive business development efforts in the DMV region, identifying and securing new opportunities with public and private sector clients. Cultivate and maintain high-level client relationships, including with federal agencies, local governments, and industry partners. Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and execute regional growth strategies aligned with the firm's long-term goals. Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and client meetings to raise visibility and strengthen the firm’s market position. Monitor market trends and policy developments in the DMV area to identify strategic opportunities for expansion. Champion the firm’s culture, values, and commitment to innovation, sustainability, and client service. Oversee project delivery and technical excellence for our DMV work, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget objectives are met. Oversee regulatory compliance at federal, state, and local levels. Prepare proposals, estimates, and participate in contract negotiations. Provide mentorship and career development opportunities for department members. Ensure compliance with corporate policies and maintain awareness of legislative and regulatory changes affecting the industry. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related technical field. Professional Engineer (PE) license with registration in Washington D.C., Maryland, or Virginia. Proven track record of leading business development initiatives and securing high-value contracts in the engineering or professional services sector, within the DMV market. Demonstrated experience in building and scaling regional operations, including hiring, team leadership, and establishing a strong market presence aligned with strategic business goals. Strong leadership, communication, and business development skills. Experience managing budgets, project schedules, and technical compliance. Knowledge of emerging transportation technologies and best practices.
