Assembler II

Description

Under close supervision, assembles small parts, capacitors, switches, and related components into cabinets; fabricates various sub-assemblies; and does other work as required.

Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

•Works primarily with other assemblers and is responsible for consistently meeting quality and production standards.
•Operates forklift to move pallets and cabinets only if trained and certified.
•Assembles capacitor racks.
•Installs oil switches, copper fuse holders, insulation, mountings, porcelain, links, and louver cover.
•Drills and installs glastic fittings.
•Build transformer brackets.
•Verifies correct clearances and hole diameters given blueprints.
•Operates air sanders to debur door handles.
•Operates mini-punches, grinders, band saws, impact wrenches, hand tools, etc.
•Able to read blueprints and schematics.
•Makes up small hardware parts.
•Cleans and maintains work area.
•Can work with little to no supervision.

Education/Experience:
•High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six to nine months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:
•Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Write simple correspondence. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations and with other employees.

Mathematical Ability:
•Add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply/divide with 10's and 100's/ Perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability:
•Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Computer Skills:
•None.
