JOB SUMMARY:

The Press Brake Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and ensuring that machinery produces high quality products, that machinery runs smoothly and at capacity, and that machinery is properly maintained. Working from specifications and drawings, the Press Brake Operator uses a press brake to bend, shape, cut and manipulate sheet metal and metal plates.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Operates press brake to manufacture components from sheet metal or metal plates.
  • Prepares, sets up, and adjusts press brake as required by product plans, specifications, and schedules.
  • Verifies that sufficient raw materials are available and communicates with supervisor if problems arise.
  • Measures and aligns materials to be used.
  • Operates production machinery in accordance with prints and specifications. Assigned machines may include forming rolls, grinders, and similar equipment.
  • Produces the required quantity of parts within established specifications and tolerances.
  • Measures finished parts with precision tools, ensuring compliance with function quality and cosmetic specifications.
  • Maintains logs and records of units produced including a record of errors resulting in rejected or discarded pieces.
  • Inspects equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment; performs basic and routine adjustments and maintenance.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years or related machine operating experience in a manufacturing facility or similar relevant experience.
  • Ability to safely and effectively operate or learn to operate press brake controls.
  • Familiarity with Amada press brake equipment and controls a plus.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow blueprints and routings.
  • Knowledge of proper use of measuring tools/gauges and cutting tools.
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Must pass a post-employment offer drug screen and background check.

Salary Description
