Job Purpose and Summary In our Retail locations, Pharmacy Managers play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence in their respective pharmacy. They act as a role model for all, demonstrating genuine care and setting the bar for their pharmacy team. Pharmacy Managers lead and develop a pharmacy team that provides exceptional patient care by promoting best practices, leading through change, and addressing performance opportunities. They support program awareness, onboard new staff, and recognize colleagues for their success. Consistently, the Pharmacy Manager exhibits best practices when working the bench, quarterbacking the team, providing meaningful counseling and abiding by all legal and regulatory guidelines. Responsibilities Live our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices. Oversee the pharmacy team during bench shifts, strengthening pharmacy performance measures through effective coaching and consistent follow‑up. Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and utilizing safety guardrails at every workstation. Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, coaching the team to do the same, collaborating with the patient’s total healthcare team, and proactively resolving insurance and/or medication issues. Proactively offer and deliver immunizations; identify, engage, and support Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize. Manage pharmacy inventory by following best practices, with a focus on protecting cold‑chain products. Conduct new Technician and Pharmacist onboarding for the store and district, ensuring all trainees are on‑track for timely completion of required training and licensure. Ensure pharmacy operations are fully compliant with state Board of Pharmacy regulations at all times, escalating issues to the Rx DL as needed. Partner with the Store Manager to maintain a healthy talent pipeline of cross‑trained colleagues willing to work in the pharmacy, ensuring they complete training for licensure. Oversee Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists (DPSs) where applicable, managing performance through observation, feedback, and validation of results; deliver annual reviews and close gaps. Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic; write or delegate schedule creation. Regularly review business reporting, develop action plans to close gaps in workflow, service, patient care, and compliance. Establish a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion so the pharmacy team feels valued; build psychological safety by opening the door for feedback. Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, actively seeking opportunities to expand knowledge. Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical care (e.g., COVID/Flu, hormonal contraception). Understand and comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; comply with CVS Health policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and inclusive workplace. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. 1‑2 years of experience as a Pharmacist. Essential Functions Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe. Attention and Focus Concentrate on tasks over time. Pivot quickly to meet patient and business needs. Confirm prescription information and label accuracy for patient safety. Customer Service and Team Orientation Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner. Notice and understand patients’ reactions, responding appropriately. Communication Skills Use verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues. Utilize active listening and ask questions as appropriate. Mathematical Reasoning Use math to solve problems (e.g., determine total tablets, day’s supply). Problem Resolution Identify challenging interactions and choose best course of action. Physical Demands Mobile and upright for extended periods. Lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead; stretch; work primarily with fingers. Control precision; adjust machines to exact positions. Lift up to 20 lbs occasionally, up to 10 lbs frequently, negligible force otherwise. Express or exchange ideas orally. Team Management and Leadership Lead by example and set a positive tone. Delegate tasks, empower team members, foster collaboration. Motivate and inspire team adherence to standards. Apply problem‑solving skills to address challenges. Adapt and take accountability for changes. Coach and provide feedback; discipline or terminate as needed. Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager. Preferred Qualifications Completion of CVS Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PM‑EL) program. 3‑5 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting. Ability to work in the home store and across the market for business needs. Anticipated Weekly Hours 40 Time Type Full time Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is $65.00 - $85.00. This represents the base hourly rate or base annual full‑time salary. The actual base salary offer will depend on experience, education, geography, and other factors. The position is eligible for a bonus, commission, or short‑term incentive program.
