System Administrator - Level II ANG is seeking a System Administrator - Level II to support the Defense Health Agency Information Technology Department at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. This position is onsite at Bethesda, MD. Essential functions include configuring, testing, implementing, and maintaining a networked system server environment or application, along with supporting administrators and users utilizing the environment or application. The role also involves configuring, testing, implementing, and maintaining an enterprise level endpoint management solution. The position requires evaluating and resolving system, servers, virtualization, storage, and processing problems. Additionally, the role involves configuring and implementing system, servers, virtualization, and storage architecture designs, evaluating performance using hardware and software diagnostic tools, and assisting with the designing, planning, and installation of new systems, servers, virtualization, storage, and hardware. The System Administrator will work with Information Assurance engineers to ensure all systems and servers meet DoD RMF requirements and collaborate with the Cybersecurity team to maintain baseline security, mitigate cyber threats and vulnerabilities, and adhere to IT security principles and methods. The role also supports disaster recovery and COOP plans, systems, and operations. The System Administrator will prepare milestone status reports and deliver presentations on systems, servers, and storage progress to stakeholders, colleagues, subordinates, and end user representatives. Effective communication with leadership on status reports, issues impacting data center services, and performance improvement initiatives is required. The position also includes supporting after hours downtime and issues, system implementation, upgrade support, SME support, server/application administration, inventory, documentation creation/review, oncall support rotation, day-to-day operations, maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly working environment, obtaining and maintaining access to DMHRSi program, completing bi-weekly DMHRSi workload documentation, and completing all required training promptly. Supervisory responsibility is not required for this position. The work environment is a professional office setting where the role routinely uses standard office equipment. Physical demands include remaining in a stationary position 75% of the time, occasionally moving about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc., constantly operating a computer and other office productivity machinery, frequently moving standard office equipment up to 25 pounds, and being able to work indoor conditions 90% of the time. The position is full-time, typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with evening and weekend hours required as needed. Travel is primarily local during the business day, with some out of the area travel and overnight expected. Experience includes Microsoft MSCE-level certification preferred, or equivalent experience, deploying & hardening Windows Server 2016, Server 2019, experience in areas such as AD, SCOM, MECM, IIS, SQL, DSUW, Remedy ITSM, M3, Exchange, Linux, Unix, and patch management, six (6) years of progressive experience demonstrating proficiency with server operations, and a Bachelor's degree and/or equivalency. Additional eligibility qualifications include IAT II and CE. Security clearance is a Public Trust IT Security Designation: ADP/IT-II Investigation Required: Tier 3 (T3).
