The primary responsibility of the Inpatient Neurocritical Care NP is assessment and medical management of adult neurological patients admitted to the adult medical-surgical intensive care unit. The NP will utilize advanced clinical skills and knowledge to assess patients and manage all aspects of care.  He/she will communicate clinical issues to the physicians as appropriate, write orders according to standardized procedures/protocols, perform daily patient-care rounds, and facilitate arrangements for discharge/transfer.  The NP will collaborate with the care team to coordinate and manage the process of patient care from the point of admission to the hospital, through discharge and hand-off to an outpatient care provider to ensure continuity of care where applicable.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 3 12hr shifts/week - must be open to nights / weekends
  • Credentialing: Saint Marys Hospital
  • Average Patients Per Day: 10-20
  • Patient Base: Inpatient
  • Typical Day: Support NIS Physicians and Neurologists. Part of a team providing 24/7 coverage at a comprehensive stroke center - this position responds to code strokes
  • Virginia License and Certification required
