Job Description AECOM is seeking highly qualified Resident Engineers to lead construction inspection and contract administration activities on transportation infrastructure projects throughout New Jersey. Key Responsibilities Serve as the primary representative on-site, overseeing contractor performance and verifying compliance with project plans, specifications, and applicable regulations Manage daily inspection activities, field staff, and project documentation Coordinate with NJDOT, NJTA, municipal stakeholders, contractors, and AECOM project management Monitor project schedule, budget, and quality metrics, proactively addressing issues as they arise Review and process contractor submittals, requests for information, and change orders Prepare progress reports, maintain accurate records, and participate in project meetings Ensure adherence to safety standards and environmental compliance requirements Qualifications Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field, +6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience Preferred Qualifications NICET Level IV certification in Transportation/Highway Construction PE License (NJ Preferred) The ideal candidates will have significant prior experience on New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) and New Jersey Turnpike Authority (NJTA) projects Proficiency with NJDOT and NJTA specifications, policies, and construction administration procedures Minimum of 10 years of construction inspection and contract administration experience on transportation projects half of it in the capacity of Resident Engineer Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills Familiarity with electronic project management and documentation systems (e.g., Primavera, CapEx, NJDOT Site Manager) Additional Information Relocation assistance is not available for this role Sponsorship is not available for this role, now or in the future Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications.
