The Emerging Store Manager role at Walgreens includes supervising customer service associates and designated hitters, managing front‑end operations, and overseeing overall performance of the Pharmacy and Retail Store. Customer Experience Engage customers and patients by greeting and offering assistance. Resolve complaints promptly and answer questions to ensure a positive experience. Model and share best practices. Monitor service, provide coaching and training, and develop improvement plans for front‑end and pharmacy. Empower team to find impactful resolutions and exceed expectations, building loyalty. Accountable for improving overall customer service metrics. Operations Supervise store and team operations: assign daily activities, delegate tasks, manage opening/closing, approve time records, handle scheduling conflicts. Collaborate with external partners to drive store future, support outreach opportunities as resource for Pharmacy Operations Manager. Support Store Manager in data analysis, fact‑based decisions, monitoring impact. Control cash management: register counts, withdrawals, armored pickups, deposits, bookkeeping. Supervise inventory (front‑end and pharmacy), perform resets, analyze trends, create corrective plans, coach teams on procedures. Execute operational feedback from Store and District Managers through delegation. Maintain clean, presentable interior/exterior; manage repairs, maintenance, emergencies. Ensure team members know all computer and technology systems. Provide safety, utilize Security Operations Center. Comply with all company policies, laws, and regulations (alcohol, tobacco, fresh food, pharmacy). Complete special assignments. Full Store Operation Business Performance Management Analyze financial and performance data and create action plans to meet deliverables. Use statements, KPIs, tools to engage team, drive improvements, collaborate on sales opportunities. Support Pharmacy during busy periods, including acting as technician if needed. People & Performance Management Lead, train, mentor, coach team; provide career development, discipline, coaching, and performance management. Manage performance by assigning goals, providing feedback, recognition, and improvement plans. Acquire and retain talent, build pipelines for future leaders; anticipate staffing needs, recruit, interview, hire. Ensure proper recruitment and training procedures per policy and laws. Establish accountability culture with clear expectations, performance plans, discipline. Training & Personal Development Complete Store Manager learning program and all required courses and certifications. Monitor own performance, seek feedback, commit to self‑development, maintain IDP. Maintain valid pharmacy technician license as required. Communications Communicate regularly with team via one‑on‑one discussions and group meetings. Assist Store Manager in planning and communicating company and store strategy. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with solid record, all majors welcome, or completed Walgreens Community Internship, or High School Diploma/GED plus two years supervisory experience. Demonstrated leadership, ethics, self‑motivation, communication, business acumen. Completion of LEAP or willingness to complete Walgreens Leadership Essentials within 12 weeks of ESM start date. Fluent in reading, writing, speaking English (except Puerto Rico). Willingness to work flexible schedule including extended days, evenings, weekends. Willingness to accept promotion to Store Manager; relocation possible. Ability to transfer to other Walgreens retail assets within same hiring area. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Internal candidates: management experience, supervising, assigning work, both front‑end and pharmacy experience. External candidates: business majors, prior retail or food industry experience.
