Job Summary:


Directs and coordinates the activities of the department with overall responsibility for planning,
production, productivity, quality, inventory control, and labor relations within the department.
Additionally, the Production Supervisor provides coaching and direction to the shop floor to insure targets
are met.


Principal Area of Responsibility: As Production Supervisor, this position is to be:
- Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment for all associates
- Initiates and manages all environmental permits to comply with state and federal government
regulations and requirements
- Responsible for training and development of direct reports
-Manages departmental budget, costs and expenditures
-Responsible for performing in-house ISO audit functions
-Reviews and recommends production schedules and work orders
-Ensures on-time delivery of customer orders; analyzes inventory levels to assure on-time shipments
-Works with engineering and maintenance to develop and execute long-range programs, to include
capacity planning, equipment and strategic capital investments
-Coordinates planning and scheduling of maintenance to machines and equipment to minimalize
downtime
-Develops and executes improvement projects on time and within budget to achieve targeted savings
-All department processes and procedures documented and the appropriate individual(s) trained and
cross-trained as necessary


Specific Duties:
Position must possess the following skills, qualifications and capabilities:
Manage and mentor team.
Interface with all levels of business associates.
Prepare delivery schedules. Maintain 80-85% of time delivery to established schedule
Prepare machine loadings and schedules for key machines

Job Description

Plan in advance for critical jobs by setting target dates, inspection requirements and material
handling requirements
Coordinate material flow with shop schedules
Layout and follow-up on “monthly fire extinguisher checks”
Maintain inventory records for raw materials and finished products
Audit work in process and review machine maintenance problems. Review information with V.P. of
Operations and Maintenance Manager
Review incoming orders with Plant Manager and VP of Operations
Control both manufactured and purchased tooling. Establish systematic procedures to follow-up on
both to insure coordination with machining operations
Control distribution of drawing revisions to the shop
Control flow of paperwork to shop floor
Monitor and control critical jobs. Insure visibility of rush jobs on critical jobs milestone chart.
Generate a “hot list” for each production meeting.
Plan and direct work of subordinates
Keep Plant Manager and Vice President of Operations informed of production “bottlenecks” and
problems
Conduct weekly team meetings / monthly safety training and periodic kick-off, update and brainstorm
meetings for stalled or troubled jobs
Direct the annual and semi-annual physical inventories in your assigned area
Foster a team spirited environment
Independently solve problems and display conflict resolution skills
All other duties and activities as assigned or necessary to support the Operation
