Role: Network Engineer
Location: NYC or Houston (4X a week onsite; 1 remote day)
Shift: 7:30-4:30 or 8:30-5:30
Duration: 9-month contract-to-hire
Pay Rate: 40-55/hr.
Start Date: ASAP
Reason Open: IT team is expanding
Interviews: 1st week of December
Interview Process: 2-3 rounds
Internal Notes:
- 140 employees in the company nationwide
- 5 offices - largest office is Houston, TX
- IT is expanding at the company - currently have a small team and they don't have the bandwidth
Must Haves:
- 3-5 years of experience in Network Engineering, Network Support, or related position.
- Experience implementing LAN and WAN network solutions.
- Cloud Environment exposure - Microsoft Azure and AWS.
- Experience performing configurations and installations of network hardware:
- Routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Palo Alto Firewall - design, implementation, and maintenance.
- IDS/IPS (intrusion detection/prevention systems).
- End user support- providing technical support for network connectivity.
- MS 365 (application issue support with email, OneDrive access, setup and configuration).
- Good communication, time management skills, and sense of urgency.
Day to Day:
Network Design and Implementation:
- Collaborate with the IT team to design, plan, and implement network solutions (LANs, WANs) that integrate on-premises infrastructure with cloud environments like Microsoft Azure and AWS.
- Select, configure, and install network hardware like routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Implement and maintain network cabling infrastructure, ensuring proper physical security of network equipment.
Network Maintenance and Support:
- Proactively monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues like outages, slowdowns, or connectivity problems within both on-premises and cloud environments.
- Perform regular network maintenance tasks including software updates, configuration backups, and security audits.
- Collaborate with the Managed Detection and Response and Managed Services Providers to integrate security protocols and safeguards into the infrastructure environment.
- Design, implement, and regularly test disaster recovery and business continuity plans for critical infrastructure.
Network Security:
- Design, implement, and maintain robust network security measures including firewalls (Palo Alto Networks experience a must), intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and access control lists (ACLs) across both on-premises and cloud environments.
- Stay updated on the latest security threats and vulnerabilities to proactively protect the network.
End User Support:
- Provide technical support to end-users for network connectivity and troubleshooting Microsoft 365 application issues (e.g., email, OneDrive access).
- Microsoft 365 suite account setup and configuration.
