Sterilization Tech Team Lead

Central Sterilization Team Lead

Temp to Hire
Pay: $27 – $32/hr

Location: Fall River, MA
Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm

may need to stay late occasionally (5:30 – 6:00pm latest) but schedule is posted 6 weeks in advance

Interviews: 1st Teams, 2nd onsite

Job Description:
Responsibilities: Position reports to the Manager, Central Processing or designee. Manage the daily flow of Central Sterile personnel, interview and recommend new hires, train and facilitate team development. Supervise assigned staff, including timely evaluations. Coordinate daily case cart and inventory control. Required to be available for on-call assignments. Establish and monitor departmental productivity and quality control in all aspects of inventory related processes. Responsible for new product evaluation /selection, cost savings/analysis and product standardization. Develop inventory control tools and determine inventory systems efficiency.

Qualifications:


Equal to completion of two years of college.
An associate’s degree in a related field or the equivalent knowledge or experience is required.
Medical Terminology and proficient computer skills including medical based programs are required.
Critical decision-making skills are required.
Certified Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) and/or Certified Surgical Technologist required.
A minimum of three (3) years of related work experience is required.
Purpose: Manage the Central Supply/Receiving area to function as a synergistic, harmonious, and productive entity. To fulfill the goals and contribute to the overall purpose and objectives

Qualifications:

1. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
2. Must be experienced or have two years’ experience in central supply.
3. CST Certification preferred

Monitors CS/Receiving area for any problems to be referred to the Quality Assurance Committee.


Utilizes proper and effective channels of communication.Proper communication channels are Consistently used. Refers unusual problems to the Director of Nurses.


Understands and practices the Philosophy and objectives .Efficient, economical utilization of supplies and equipment are demonstrated.


Completes assignments accurately, adapting to change in workload.Appropriate responsibilities are carried out.


Accepts increased responsibilities.
Participates in appropriate in-services. Keeps skills up to date.
Assists in the development and revision of policies and procedures for CS/Receiving area.
Performs related assigned duties.
Maintains a clean and safe environment. Performs biological monitoring tests of autoclaves daily – keeps accurate reports of tests.
Performs proper decontamination, Washing packaging, autoclaving and Storage of instruments and sterile Supplies.
Performs routine maintenance to instruments and equipment according to manufacturer’s directions
Inspects instruments for proper functioning before sterilization.
Removes broken or malfunctioning instruments from inventory – reports same to Clinical Nurse Administrator
Checks sterile goods in CS area monthly for outdates.
Performs general cleaning in CS area monthly.
Keeps a current file of contents of instrument set
Maintains awareness of safety hazards and use of equipment to prevent damage to personnel and patients.


Orders, receives, stores and maintains an adequate level of an ever-present availability of suppliesChecks inventory and orders routine supplies as needed.
Receives and inspects condition of supplies and instruments.
Maintains an accurate purchase order/inventory control filing system.
Forwards completed purchase orders to business office.
Communicates any significant problems with vendors to Clinical Nurse Administrator or Business Manager
Stores supplies in appropriate areas.




Working Conditions/Physical Requirements of Job:


Physically demanding job, requiring standing, and walking for extended periods of time.
Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50lbs
Use of proper body mechanic required due to frequent bending, swatting, turning, and lifting demand of job.
Exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable disease, chemicals, and repetitive motion.
Frequent exposure to biological, chemical, and environmental elements including infectious waste, anesthetic agents, vapors, solvents, solutions, sterilizers and electrical.
Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients.
