POSITION SUMMARY: The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the control of materials within the warehouse, receiving and inventory control departments, to maximize productivity on assigned shifts and areas.  Prepares schedules for receiving materials to control flow of goods and regulate warehouse space.  In addition, this position is accountable for warehouse inventory accuracy and cycle counting routines to drive accurate perpetual records on the material stored in the warehouse. This leader is also responsible for leading the materials replenishment teams, with responsibility to ensure materials are delivered to point-of-use per standard work.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities of the Warehouse Manager include the following job duties. The responsibilities are not limited to these tasks:

  • Ensure timely unloading, receiving, storage and delivery of material to the production areas.
  • Responsible for shipping processes for complete units and spares.
  • Maintains inventory and product loss control, coordinates timely and accurate receiving standards, and ensures safety/operational guidelines are met.
  • Maintain cycle count standard work goals with the annual objective of achieving Physical Inventory Exemption certification in designated areas within the facility.
  • Maintain and issue inventory reporting, including inventory accuracy, cycle count metrics and scrap processing.
  • Implement and enforce standard work practices
  • Drive continuous improvement activities in all functional areas.
  • Puts corrective actions in place to address process failures.
  • Provide leadership in selecting, developing and evaluating personnel to ensure efficient operations.
  • Organize activities & assigning jobs accordingly to the staff requirements
  • Works with plant management to assign, direct, review and monitor work of Team Leads to maximize productivity.
  • Motivate staff to develop an effective and efficient team.
  • Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating and delegating.
  • Leads material replenishment activities for the factory, ensuring that delivery of parts to production lines are done per standard work instructions
  • Works with engineering teams to design and deploy various replenishment methods in the factory (i.e. Kanban, sequencing, etc.)
  • Keep up-to-date on the latest federal and state safety regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Must have good understanding of material flow in a manufacturing and distribution environments

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Bachelor degree in business or engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the integrated functions of manufacturing preferred
  • Prior experience leading team of direct reports preferred
  • Experience with rate-based or flow line (non-MRP) and job shop manufacturing environments
  • Experience in operations, inventory management, MRP and lean manufacturing processes
  • Experience with visual management systems
  • Experience operating warehouse equipment and any necessary certifications
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and other inventory control software
  • Must demonstrate strong communication skills
  • Must display initiative and creativity in the pursuit of continuous improvement in safety, quality, productivity, housekeeping, scrap, and customer delivery

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions in English, short correspondence, and memos, such as supervisory instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and work orders. 
  • Ability to effectively share information about job duties in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. 
  • Ability to perform these operations using all units of measure.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

 

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, airborne particles and vibration from hammering of parts and using hand tools. 
  • Since it is a manufacturing environment, the noise level is usually loud due to the different machinery being operated (i.e. forklifts, hand tools, machines in other departments) and the testing that occurs. Normal noise exposure in the area ranges from 80-90 dba; hearing protection is required while on the plant floor.
