Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Specialty: Medical-Surgical

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Night Shift, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, Every other weekend required

Guaranteed Hours: 34.5 hours per week

Experience: Minimum 2 years RN experience, including 2 years in Medical-Surgical

License: Valid RN License

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)

Must-Have: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing with relevant experience

Job Description:

- Provide safe, quality patient care using the nursing process based on theory, research, and evidence-based practice.
- Conduct patient assessments, develop care plans, and evaluate care effectiveness.
- Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to implement and evaluate care plans.
- Prioritize patient care tasks including education, rounding, and discharge planning.
- Educate patients and caregivers, addressing health promotion and disease prevention.
- Ensure effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Manage patient assignments within a Modified Primary Nursing care model.

Patient Experience:

- Exhibit relationship-centered care with actions including bedside reports and purposeful rounding.
- Respect patient values, preferences, and cultural diversity.
- Maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Utilize evidence-based practices to understand patient perceptions of care.
- Initiate service recovery when concerns arise, escalating as needed.

Quality and Safety:

- Deliver safe, patient-centered care and identify improvement opportunities.
- Employ clinical skills and knowledge crucial to patient population safety.
- Collaborate on quality improvement projects and nursing research.
- Utilize institutional IT systems to support quality and performance initiatives.

Operations:

- Perform charge nurse duties as needed.
- Coordinate resources efficiently, escalating deficits as necessary.
- Document accurately in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Facilitate patient throughput effectively.

Professional Development:

- Support a collaborative environment for patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Develop clinical competence from novice to expert.
- Demonstrate professionalism, ethical principles, and effective communication.
- Encourage lifelong learning and innovation in self and others.
