Overview Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, Colorado's largest and most comprehensive provider of cancer care has an exciting opportunity for a Safety Report Nurse supporting the Research Department at our Midtowh locaton in Denver, Colorado We realize that it sounds cliché but it is true - taking care of cancer patients is a calling. Under general supervision, provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental and age specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide for assessment and therapeutic management of patient/family needs. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Nurses with OCN certification are eligible for OCN Incentive Pay after 90 days of employment or upon obtainment of certification. Responsibilities Job Profile Summary Safety report nurse works closely with providers and clinical research coordinators to report all serious or special interest adverse events to sponsor, or FDA as required for the RMCC network. Collaborates with a physician or qualified staff member to ensure complete report and documentation of all events. Responds timely to notification of events and is responsible for reporting those events in a timely manner. Reviews all records from hospitals and other outside entities to ensure complete documentation of events including all concomitant adverse events and medications. Uses nursing experience and knowledge to accurately report events as delegated by providers. Ensures site research quality by practicing in compliance with US Oncology Research, Inc. (USOR) Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and applicable federal, state, and local regulations through OSHA, CDC and HIPAA. Supports and adheres to US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics. Key Responsibilities * Responsible for the reporting and management of all serious adverse events reported in the network. * Works closely with RMCC providers and clinical staff to ensure timely and accurate reporting of all events. * Maintains accesses to hospital records systems and all sponsor systems required to facilitate accurate and timely reporting of events. * Responsible for close follow up of all events to ensure timely follow up on queries and/or follow up reports as required. * Responsible for ensuring all source documentation is complete and accurate to support entry of information into sponsor EDC systems. * Provides ongoing reporting to management on events and progress towards closure, trends or safety concerns identified in reports. * Provides review of previously reported events to support audit readiness in an ongoing manner. * Works with management team on ongoing projects to support audit readiness, ongoing education of team members, development of appropriate SOP's and work instructions to support same. * Maintains/monitors 24 hour "hotline" number for notification of all SAEs at time of occurrence. Qualifications Minimum Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities): Education/Training - Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred. RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Must maintain continuing education requirements. Business Experience - 3-5 years nursing experience in research preferred. Specialized Knowledge/Skills - Oncology and research experience preferred. Working Conditions: Environment (Office, warehouse, etc.) - Remote/Hybrid.
