General Summary & Scope The Experience Manager leads through Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values to build a high‑performing team delivering top‑line sales growth in retail and services. The manager oversees stylists, estheticians, guest coordinators, Assistant Services Managers, Sales Managers, and boutique leads, managing salon services, boutiques, retail sales, makeup, and guest satisfaction. Accountability includes net promoter score (NPS) and overall guest experience. Principal Duties & Responsibilities Performance Promote a culture of accountability to meet or exceed store goals related to services, boutiques, retail sales, guest loyalty, payroll, omni‑channel, and retail shrink. Drive profitability through operational excellence, top‑line sales growth, and expense control. Use store forecast and payroll budgets to support scheduling, communicate needs to the GM, and maximize productivity while staying within budget. Address underperformance in services, boutiques, retail sales, loyalty, store visits, and audit results by developing strategies using company programs and tools. Support direct reports in developing and maintaining their clientele. Perform makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance guest experience. Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services, and educate guests on benefits. Maintain prompt, regular attendance as EM and hold associates accountable to the attendance policy. People Attract, hire, and retain a diverse team using social media and other recruiting methods. Build an engaged team that embodies the Ulta Beauty brand through collaboration, open communication, and coaching. Create an inclusive environment that encourages associate growth and engagement. Provide manager and associate development, including training, feedback, performance reviews, and succession planning. Ensure ongoing training participation for both self and direct reports. Establish professional relationships that foster collaborative sales and service goals. Model teamwork and guest service excellence alongside leadership. Execute the Guest Engagement Leader program to meet Annual Performance Goals metrics. Process Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards, including Infection Control. Enforce the dress code and other store standards. Use scheduling tools to create, adjust, and manage schedules for optimal guest experience. Use task management tools to prioritize and execute store workload, including inventory and marketing tasks. Protect company assets through safety, inventory control, cash management, and loss prevention. Execute day‑to‑day inventory control and theft reporting. Support continuous improvement and adoption of company initiatives. Communicate business trends, opportunities, and operational challenges to leadership. Job Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree preferred. Cosmetology license and/or cosmetology management license where required by state law. Experience 2–3+ years of relevant retail management or fast‑paced retail experience. Financial management: success with driving top‑line sales, interpreting data, managing payroll, and controlling expenses. Cosmetology management: advanced competency in services, sales, guest experience, and product attachment; knowledge of Board regulations. Retail management: proven ability in inventory monitoring, operational excellence, and service culture. Leadership: experience in attracting, developing, motivating talent, adapting to change, and influencing teams. Skills Proficient with POS, Microsoft Office, and Apple devices. Excellent written and verbal communication. Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills managing multiple tasks. Ability to stay calm under pressure and adapt to ambiguity. Special Position Requirements Work a flexible full‑time schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Attend corporate business meetings and conferences. Working Conditions Continuous mobility throughout the store during shifts. Frequent standing, bending, reaching, and twisting. Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 25 lbs. Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects. Frequent use of a computer, telephonic devices, and related office supplies.
