Looking for a lower cost of living area to live in Eastern Tennessee? Our client, a 100+ bed healthcare facility located within 2 hrs of Great Smoky Mountains area of TN, within an hour of Knoxville and Chattanooga, has a need for a HIM Director to join their team. The Director oversees CDI and HIM clerks (5 FTEs); doesn’t oversee the Coders. HIM Management experience is REQUIRED This is an ONSITE position.

HIM experience required. Knowledge and enforcing of regulatory standards for CMS, JCAHO as they regard to hospitals. Will serve as the Privacy Officer for both hospitals and the nursing home. Daily follow-up is required. Investigation of any complaints that are HIPPA related. This position is onsite as the staff need a physical leader in the department with them, to be a resource to the staff as things happen. Strong knowledge of CDI. Hold meetings with Providers regarding where patients are at, DRG assignments, etc. Recent Coding and DRG experience background is needed.

Core competencies include, but are not limited to the following:

Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization. Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives. Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives. Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits. Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth. Ensures department stays focused on their important role in the continuum of care. Serves as facility privacy officer. They use Chartwise.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education High School Diploma or equivalent Required

Required Licenses

TN Coder, Health Information Current RHIT or RHIA Certification Required

Minimum Work Experience

Two years of HIM Management Experience in a Hospital Setting Required

Preferred: 3-4 years of experience in a for profit hospital.
