GYK is looking for a Brand Strategist.

At GYK, Brand strategy is the driving force behind all the work we do, from content to integrated campaigns. As a Strategist, you will work within a team committed to uncovering powerful insights that drive our creative output and integrated marketing plans.

You will be expected to be able to deeply understand consumers and product categories, create consumer personas, identify and articulate a brand’s differentiators in interesting ways, inspire big ideas, and have an understanding of the modern media landscape to plan campaigns effectively. Most importantly, you’ll be expected to bring a passion and desire to learn, have fun, and make an impact for our agency and clients.

The Strategist teams up with the Director of Strategy — as well as account managers, creatives, and media experts — to develop effective campaigns that deliver on our clients’ objectives. You will report directly to the Director of Strategy.


Responsibilities:

  • Work within the strategy and planning team on key strategic deliverables for your designated clients, including research reports, brand strategy and positioning, creative briefs, and communications plans. Work toward leading projects yourself.
  • Craft compelling, insight-driven creative briefs that inspire impactful creative work.
  • Synthesize large amounts of data and research into clear recommendations.
  • Understand how to conduct research and utilize agency tools to understand consumers and help solve clients’ marketing challenges.
  • Collaborate with account, creative and media teams regularly to drive the most impactful work for our clients. We don’t work in siloes.
  • Be able to serve as a bridge between the creative and media teams, making insightful recommendations for how we can best use different channels or tactics to reach consumers and bring creative ideas to life.
  • Effectively manage workload and deliver great strategic thinking across multiple exciting brands and projects at the same time.
  • Look for opportunities to expand your skillset as a brand strategist/planner and as a leader within your project and client teams.
  • Work with and guide interns and junior level strategy team members.
  • Most importantly, we ask that you be the best version of you every single day.


Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications, psychology or sociology (or a related field of study).
  • 4-6 years of professional experience within an advertising or branding agency, preferably with 4+ years in strategy specifically.
  • Ability to conduct primary and secondary research, and derive consumer insights.
  • Ability to develop consumer personas and detailed target audiences.
  • Understanding of modern media channels and tactics, in particular the role of social media in driving growth for brands.
  • Exceptional writing skills.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain and meet client deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
