Senior Structural Engineer 1

Sargent & Lundy's Nuclear Power Group is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the design and upgrade of nuclear facilities including small modular reactors, advanced reactors, and medical isotope facilities. As a Senior Structural Engineer you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary engineering team, mentor junior engineers, and guide the design work of projects across multiple sites. Key Responsibilities Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design. Work on a wide range of projects for various clients. Prepare and review design calculations, develop specifications and reports, and support designers with drawing development. Mentor others in the development of engineering deliverables. Perform the structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations using state‑of‑the‑art computer tools. Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs. Work Environment This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and requires in‑office work 3 days per week. Qualifications Essential Skills and Experience BS degree in Structural/Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program. 5 or more years of experience working as a member of a project team in the design and analysis of structures. Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS. Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Valued, But Not Required MS in Civil Engineering. Experience with design and analysis of power plant and/or industrial structures. On‑site construction support experience. PE or SE license.
