The Senior Director of Membership oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of membership growth strategies, as well as the day-to-day management of the membership department. This individual is responsible for recruitment and retention, budgeting and customer service for an association of 10,000 individual members and reports to the Executive Vice President.

The successful candidate must understand the importance of membership to an organization and will use existing resources, while recognizing the need for new methods, to engage members and seek out new prospects.

The Senior Director of Membership supervises a team of two and serves as liaison to key volunteer leadership groups: NextGen (early career practitioners), Student American Chiropractic Association (SACA) and the Faculty American Chiropractic Association (FACA).

Membership Management

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive plan to acquire new members, retain existing members, and re-engage lapsed members.
  • Oversee direct mail campaigns; use of social media; website content, work with members to assist in recruitment efforts and analyze results.
  • Develop and actively manage department budgets and work with finance department to ensure accurate financial tracking of membership dues
  • Monitor, track, and provide monthly membership retention and recruitment reports for ACA leadership
  • Ensures appropriate responses to membership-related inquiries, including payment or membership information updates, membership renewals, online account requests and membership dues and benefits inquiries in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Develop effective communication materials to inform members and prospects about membership benefits and value.
  • Develop and execute promotions for membership, Engage Conference, Student Leadership Conference and other ACA events.
  • Oversee day-to-day duties of the Membership Operations Manager and Senior Associate of Marketing and Member Services.
  • Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, set objectives, establish priorities, and conduct annual performance appraisals
  • Manage external consultants responsible for fulfillment of specific support services.

Volunteer Management

  • Serve as staff liaison to Membership Committee, supporting their goals and initiatives.
  • Serve as liaison for NextGen, Student American Chiropractic Association (SACA) and Faculty ACA (FACA).
  • Support all leadership and programmatic committees within NextGen, SACA and FACA including, but not limited to: national executive board, membership, communications, specialty councils and the leadership conference.
  • Manage all aspects of the SACA Leadership Conference including, but not limited to: registration, speaker communication, hotel reservations and program creation.
  • Facilitate transitions of leadership among the chapter boards and committee chairs.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of membership experience preferred
  • Proficiency with database platforms (please specify which platforms)
  • Self-directed, highly professional, with excellent organizational, written and oral communications and analytical skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Experience supporting volunteer committees and volunteer leaders
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize a wide range of tasks and meet deadlines
