**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** 12-hour night shift, 3x12 hours per week
**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week
**Experience:** Minimum of one year preferred
**License:** State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the Nurse Licensure Compact
**Certifications:**
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (required for some locations)
**Must-Have:**
- Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty
- Ability to float to various locations within sixty miles of the original assignment
**Job Description:**
- Facilitate, communicate, and collaborate with the healthcare team, patients, and their families to address their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
- Promote optimal health, well-being, and patient safety through the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards and guidelines.
- Demonstrate personal accountability for relationship-based care and organizational mission and core values.
- Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, and review of medical records and clinical data.
- Evaluate patients' responses and intervene to ensure the best possible outcomes.
- Develop and implement patient care plans and observe outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate competency in therapeutic/diagnostic interventions, including IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collection.
- Advocate for patient rights and safety, and collaborate with patients and families through effective teaching and evaluation of learning.
- Provide relationship-based care respecting cultural differences and diversity, actively engaging patients in all aspects of care.
- Delegate tasks to non-RN personnel according to nursing policies and state board guidelines.
- Use time, resources, and supplies efficiently to deliver high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
- Serve as a professional role model for ethical, legal, and professional nursing practices.
- Manage resources and patient flow, matching nursing competencies with patient and unit needs.
- Adhere to standards of care, hospital policies, and regulatory guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering communication, respect, and shared decision-making.
- Precept and mentor new staff or nursing students as needed.
- Seek learning opportunities and continue education to maintain clinical skills and competence.
- Evaluate individual practice and take action to achieve professional goals.
- Participate in hospital and unit meetings, understanding and applying quality improvement measures to enhance patient outcomes and safety.
- Engage in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities.
- Use current research findings and evidence to expand knowledge and enhance role performance.
