Summary: The Resident Services Director is responsible for the administration of nursing services. Directs, plans, and coordinates services activities of professional nursing and auxiliary nursing personnel in rendering resident care. Interprets policy and regulations to all nursing personnel and ensures compliance. Analyzes and evaluates nursing and related services rendered to ensure the quality of resident care. The Resident Services Director assumes primary responsibility for providing oversight of the resident health care needs, including the overall medication delivery system and the coordination of in-service training for the Resident Care Services Department. The Resident Services Director contributes directly and positively to the team’s approach to quality resident care by attending to and assisting with a variety of physical, emotional and social needs to help residents maintain their highest level of independence possible.
Essential Functions:
Job Duties
- Provides nursing services to residents
- Resident Teaching
- Wellness counseling
- Health Promotion
- Disease Prevention
- Provision of care and services to residents whose conditions are chronic and stable
- Verifying residents’ medication regimen with physicians or heath care practitioners for residents who require supervision Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, hygiene and mobility.
- Aware and knowledgeable of the federal and state laws and regulations regarding assisted living/memory care and the regulations of the state’s nursing commission; ensures and maintains regulatory compliance with all such regulations.
- Facilitates the overall coordination and management of care and services for residents and provides supervision of the Resident Services Department through the following:
- Move-In Process
- Pre-move-in assessments, review of paperwork and initial Service Plan Development
- Assessment and Service Plan
- Identify needs for additional assessment, health monitoring or other coordination of care needs
- Service Plan review Process
- Coordinate residents health care in collaboration with residents, families and outside health care agencies, including referral when indicated
- Conducts regular Service Plan Reviews with resident families, including meetings with responsible parties and including appropriate staff whenever changes in care levels occur.
- Staff Training, Education and Supervision
- Coordinates and participates in initial job specific orientation and training through routine review of training documents, in accordance with policies and procedures
- Coordinates and conducts continuing training and education on a regular basis, as identified through routine auditing
- Reviews documentation and communication of Resident Care Services associates
- Supervises assigned personnel in the delivery of nursing services and assistance with activities.
- Proper, Accurate Documentation
- Delegation
- Provides RN and LPN delegation, in accordance with state regulations and Community policy.
- Available after-hours for issues related to current residents’ needs; may be required to come into the Community or conduct offsite assessment at these times.
- Infection Control
- Maintains compliance with Community policies on Immunizations, Infection Control and Infectious Disease Management.
- Move Out/Discontinuation of Services
- Assists residents who no longer require services
- Quality Assurance
- Completes routine auditing of all Resident Care systems, in accordance with Resident Care Services Review Schedule and all other associate QA tools
- Move-In Process
- Responsible for monthly Resident Care Service staffing schedule. Available after-hours, on-call, related to Resident Care
- Responsible for meeting monthly budget targets, monetary and labor hours, with any variances to be discussed with the Executive Director
- Participates in other Resident Care Services and Community related duties, as assigned by the Executive Director
Compliance & Safety
- Follows emergency procedures
- Understands the safety practices and procedures.
Communication
- Communicates effectively with supervisor and other staff
Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification
- Must be a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse with a valid Ohio license.
- Must have an Ohio license in good standing.
- Experience and passion in working with seniors
- Able to perform tasks which may be physically demanding such as pushing, bending and lifting up to 60lbs.
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships with residents, their families, peers and other staff members.
- In good physical and emotional health and free of communicable diseases.
Physical Requirements
- Physically able to bend and reach.
- Physically able to push and pull and lift up to 60lbs at times.
- Physically able to stand for extended periods of time
- Could be required to use a Hoyer Lift
Miscellaneous
- Required to work weekends and holidays as assigned
- May be required to work on shifts other than the one for which hired
- May be required to work extended hours up to 16 hours per day
- Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc. including HIV, AIDS and Hepatitis B & C viruses
- Could be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents due to mental status
- Background, criminal and drug test required
