SUMMARY
The Tax Analyst prepares a variety of tax related documents for the company and its subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable guidelines and regulations. Performs tax reconciliations and determines liabilities for accounts, divisions, or business units. Assists in the preparation and distribution of tax forms, answers questions and researches discrepancies. Research and understand existing and revised tax codes, laws and forms.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Develop and maintain effective processes to timely meet all tax compliance obligations including Federal and State Corporate Income/Franchise taxes, Sales and Use taxes, and Property taxes.
* Timely complete and file federal, state, and international income tax returns.
* Prepare federal and state estimates and extensions.
* Assist with and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual income tax provisions.
* Develop and maintain an effective process of accounting for taxes including preparation of month and year-end close entries, account reconciliations, annual audit and financial statement support and any support of parent company needs.
* Manage the preparation of monthly and quarterly filing of outsourced Sales & Use tax returns for multiple states.
* Effectively manage state notices and audits
* Ensure proper maintenance of the incorporation and registration process in new tax jurisdictions for assigned Yaskawa and subsidiary businesses. Ensures preparation of annual state filing requirements to maintain compliance in registered states.
* Ensures proper preparation of state, county and local property tax returns.
* Assist with preparation of research and development and other types of tax credits.
* Assist with preparation of transfer pricing documentation.
* Assists Tax Manager with the management of all internal and external audits related to tax.
* Ensure the company's tax fixed asset records are properly maintained and updated on a timely basis including tax depreciation calculations and reporting.
* Perform other duties and functions as determined by management.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and a minimum of one (1) year of experience in preparing corporate income tax (federal, state, and local) returns in a multi-state corporation or public accounting firm is required. CPA or Master's degree in taxation is preferred, but not required. Basic understanding of US international tax experience is preferred.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong excel skills is required. Experience with Thomson Reuter's OneSource Tax Compliance Software is preferred. Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Ability to foster teamwork while working independently. Manages multiple projects and completes them in a timely manner. Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to use PC and its office related applications (Word, Excel PowerPoint). Must be able to sit, stand, bend and climb stairs as well as occasional travel among facilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is generally performed in a clean, well-ventilated office environment. Occasional work may be performed in a warehouse/manufacturing environment that is well lit.
