Position Highlights
The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Research Technician II to assist with data collection and study coordination within the Social, Cognitive, and Affective Neuroscience (SCAN) Laboratory. The Lab is devoted to the study of emotional intelligence, PTSD, mTBI, stress, and related conditions. The Research Technician will help coordinate day-to-day logistical and management of the SCAN lab research projects and support grant and contract process with the Department of Defense and other funding agencies. Research focuses on effects of prolonged sleep deprivation, chronic sleep restriction, and the use of stimulant countermeasures on the cognitive-affective systems within the brain. Some of our studies entail overnight and weekend shifts so weekly hours may vary.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Under general supervision, participate in treatment administration procedures, such as cognitive testing, brain stimulation, virtual reality testing, and neuroimaging, in accordance with protocols.
- Perform basic set up of routine research experiments and tests following lab procedures and protocols.
- Assist with research sample collection and specimen preparation.
- Assist team with data collection, data entry, and study database to help ensure that participant data is reported accurately for final analysis.
- Maintain records, logs, notes, and spreadsheets to facilitate data analysis.
- Use general knowledge to participate in preparing research experimental reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative results to facilitate data analysis.
- Aid in scheduling on-boarding and training of students and undergrads with study procedures.
- Support and participate in study recruitment efforts and conduct screening of study participants both online and in-person.
- Assist in lab maintenance and cleaning of lab equipment from experiments.
- Provide routine and technical administrative support to research projects (ordering supplies, maintain inventory, scanning, photocopies, labeling, filing, record keeping, etc.).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to administer psychological batteries or neuropsychological tests.
- Knowledge of human subjects screening and recruitment procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma orequivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
- Three (3) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Human Subjects research experience including data collection, management, and responsible conduct of research.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Relevant work experience preferably within a research setting.
