Position Summary

Wastewater Specialist

Conduct initial storm water permit application reviews for Northern and West Central Regions. Conduct Natural Heritage Inventory and Archaeological reviews and screening reviews of incoming permit applications. Maintain department databases, update local file system and conduct Notice of Intent completeness reviews. Provide general office management to specialists.

80% Conduct initial storm water permit application reviews for Northern and West Central Regions. Conduct initial screening reviews on incoming storm water permit applications. This review includes NHI and Archaeological reviews. Work closely with assigned Wastewater Specialists and Regional Engineers to ensure complete review is conducted. Issue permit coverage following reviews.

15% Maintain department databases, update local file system and conduct Notice of Intent completeness reviews.

5% Provide general office management support to program staff.

Water Resources Management Specialist

This position will assist in coordinating and implementing the Wisconsin Pollutant Discharge Elimination System storm water permit program. Tasks will include the issuance of permit coverage and the evaluation of permit related submittal materials, conducting compliance inspections and maintaining computer tracking of regulated facilities. All activities will include municipal, industrial, and construction site visits.

50% Assist in regulating storm water discharges from construction sites, industrial sites

and municipal sites, as needed or requested, throughout West Central and Northern Regions.

25% Maintain storm water database to include all inspection information collected during field visits.

25% Provide assistance to regional stormwater specialists in outreach, special projects, file management and inspections as needed.

Salary Information

These positions pay $20.24 per hour and are in pay schedule and range 15-04. Compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

Job Details

Limited Term Employment: This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position. LTE positions do not automatically lead to permanent state employment or enjoy the same benefits as permanent employees; however, these positions do offer valuable work experience and an opportunity to learn more about career opportunities with the Department of Natural Resources and the State of Wisconsin.

LTE employees are limited to working 1039 hours per position within a twelve-month period.

Residency Requirement: In order to be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have the following:

* Customer Service Experience
* Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
* Excellent Communication Skills
* Experience working with computers, Microsoft Office Suite products, and databases
* Coursework or work/volunteer experience in an environmental science or natural resources related field
* Experience working with diverse customers
* Experience reading plans or permits
* Knowledge/Understanding of Water Quality
