The Development Office at Newton-Wellesley Hospital (NWH) seeks an experienced, strategic, proactive, and results-oriented professional to serve as Associate Director, Stewardship and Donor Recognition. This role will report to the Managing Director, Donor Engagement and Development Services and collaborate with a growing development team to create and execute a comprehensive donor recognition and stewardship plan.

This position will meaningfully engage the Hospital's donors by updating them on the impact of their support and connecting them with the beneficiaries of their generosity. The primary responsibilities will be to lead the overall donor engagement, recognition, and stewardship program for the NWH fundraising program and create consistent messaging and branding across all means of donor engagement. The new hire will create and execute a variety of communications for donors; evaluate, track, and measure results of activities; provide day-to-day management of the stewardship calendar; and drive cross-departmental collaboration on donor recognition to ensure well-timed engagement with key audiences.

Regular responsibilities include:

* Advance fundraising success through a robust and proactive stewardship and donor recognition program; enhance and expand a comprehensive and integrated effort that ensures donors experience high-quality interactions that foster engagement and investment.
* Develop and implement policies and procedures for the Development Office to ensure timely and effective stewardship and recognition of donors.
* Write and produce high-priority, high-impact communications including endowed fund market value reports, annual reports on giving, program impact reports, and gift acknowledgments using print, digital and multi-media tools to reach distinct audiences. Partner with development colleagues to support storytelling and to convey donor impact.
* Develop specific strategies to increase donor retention, upgrades and acquisitions through creative and meaningful donor recognition programs and initiatives. Create new and support existing donor recognition societies for all levels of the giving spectrum, including annual and planned giving societies as well as for special initiatives and campaigns.
* Record and track donor gift agreements, stewardship plans and documentation in Blackbaud CRM, and produce regular reports on activities.
* Oversee the coordination of special engagement opportunities, including the management of small donor recognition events such as donor signage dedications and small annual stewardship events.
* Manage special stewardship and recognition touches, including birthday and holiday outreach as well as creative and meaningful gifts for volunteers and major gift donors.
* Support the development and implementation of donor recognition plans based on gift criteria, which may include special acknowledgments, press releases, publications, event announcements, events, gifts, and signage.
* Identify and manage naming opportunities for fundraising priorities; create a management system for named space and oversee the creation and installation of donor recognition pieces, including plaques. Support the creation and development of naming opportunities and related materials through design and writing.
* Support the design, fabrication, and installation of donor recognition signage. Manage the signage from concept to installation, including the creation and tracking of signage authorization forms and vendor mockups and proofs.
* Maintain an inventory of hospital plaques, named spaces, and available naming opportunities within Blackbaud CRM. Ensure accuracy of data and transparency for frontline teams.
* Oversee the production of donor lists for the annual honor roll and yearly updates to the donor recognition walls including coordinating review among stakeholders (development staff, hospital leadership, and marketing, when appropriate). Partner with Development Communications colleagues and vendors to print lists and update physical spaces.
* Collaborate with Development Communications to create templates that reflect on-brand contemporary design and include visually engaging elements such as photos, infographics and charts. Ensure reports meet standards of editorial excellence.
* Ensure the integrity and consistency of messaging and branding, adhering to guidelines at the Mass General Brigham system and NWH affiliate level, and collaborating with marketing and communications colleagues at the system level and NWH communications office to create content and materials.
* Manage relationships with outside vendors and consultants (writers, designers, printers, photographers, etc.) to ensure timely, accurate, and creative solutions to communications needs.
* Record and track consent for use of all materials, adhering to HIPAA and privacy guidelines.
* Stay up to date on best practices and trends in donor relations and philanthropy.
* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years demonstrated success in fundraising and donor relations. Degree in Marketing, Communications, English, or Journalism and experience in healthcare preferred.

B. Job Knowledge/Skills

Criteria/Standards:

1. Excellent written communication skills, and computer literacy. Demonstrated track record of producing a variety of complex written pieces, including but not limited to print publications, donor appeals and proposals, and acknowledgements. Written samples should be included with the application.

2. Excellent verbal communication skills.

3. Strong computer knowledge and skills (Word, Excel, Blackbaud CRM, report writing, and a willingness to learn more.)

4. Experience with email marketing and basic sense of graphic and web design. Experience using WordPress, Adobe Create suite, and Constant Contact preferred but not required.

5. Excellent editing and proofreading skills.

6. Ability to quickly grasp and translate complicated subject matter. Experience with healthcare communications preferred.

7. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
