Position: Job Coach

Reports To: Career Readiness Teacher

Job Goal: The Job Coach will be responsible for provision of direct prevocational and instruction/ technical assistance to students in the SASED Transition and the high school programs.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  • Must be able to have a flexible work schedule
  • Must have a School Bus Permit to drive SASED Vans (SASED can provide support)
  • Prior work experience required

Duties and Responsibilities:*Other duties may be assigned
  1. Maintain and process all documentations and cooperation with the Vocational Coordinator and DRS Counselor.
  2. Locate/identify community job training sites in cooperation with appropriate personnel. Evaluate identified job sites for appropriateness.
  3. Place students in jobs.
  4. Train students for in-school and out-of-school jobs.
  • Write detailed job description for students. (Task Analysis)
  • Practice skills needed for a job.
  • Demonstrate skills to students.
  • Work with students on the job.
  • Coordinate the job training with the employer.
  1. Evaluate students' progress with teachers and other appropriate personnel to determine appropriateness of training.
  2. Complete the training to become a school van driver (School Bus Permit) provided through SASED
  3. Collect and review data on student job performance.
  4. Serve as liaison between student, employer, parent, school personnel, and outside agencies.
  • Coordinate student schedules and programming with the classroom teacher.
  • Assist parents and students in the transition process between school and posts school experiences, including independent living arrangements.
  • Attend staffings or other meetings relative to the student and his/her needs.
  • Coordinate prevocational program needs with DORS personnel (VAC), prevocational consultant, and other prevocational staff members.
