TW&l Meter Reader II

Summary:

Performs accurate reading of water and electric consumption by utility customers for billing purposes, aids in the maintenance of the AMR meter system.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

* Reads electric and water consumption meters and records volume used by residential and commercial customers in datacap.
* Drives truck to designated area to accommodate billing cycle; walks designated route and takes readings of meter dials.
* Removes water from water meter boxes to enable readings to be determined from meter dials for billing.
* Inspects meters and service connections for defects, damage and unauthorized connections.
* Assists in the maintenance of the AMR meter system by replacing nodes and dials as needed.
* Turns off/on water meters for customers; helps locate water meters for customers as requested.
* Reports abnormalities in meters or metering equipment to supervisor.
* Operates Division vehicle and radio.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or Acceptable Equivalent (i.e. GED).

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to communicate (verbally) in a clear and concise manner with work associates and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Accuracy in basic mathematical calculations (i.e. addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) and knowledge and application of units of measure.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking in routine and non-routine functions of operation, maintenance and construction of overhead and underground electric utility installations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid driver's license from the State of Mississippi.
