Overview

The work location for this position is full remote with occasional time onsite, however the selected candidate must live and work from one of the New England states (ME, NH, VT, MA, RI, CT)

The Senior Research Compliance Assosciate works within the Office of Research Integrity and Compliance to support the Institute's robust research integrity program. Responsible for evaluating issues relating to research misconduct and other professional behaviours in the research workspace to ensure compliance with sponsor regulations and institutional policies for research integrity.

This work advances and preserves the integrity of the academic mission of the Institute by supporting professional and academic conduct.

Frequently interacts with faculty and research scientists to provide advice on the policies relating to research integrity. Identifies issues and risks for consideration by the VP of Research Integrity.

Disseminate policies and education to faculty and research staff. Works independently to manage complex processes.

Responsibilities

* With oversight from the Associate Research Compliance Officer for Integrity, responsible for the timely intake and review of issues from faculty and research scientists that may pose concerns about research integrity under institutional policies and sponsor regulations.
* Responsible for providing information and support to the VP of Research Integrity. Identify cases, trends, and issues for consideration.
* Responsible for providing support to faculty and research scientists regarding correction and retraction processes
* Answer questions via email or phone from faculty, research staff, directors, administrators, other internal customers or external academic affiliates regarding reserach integrity policies and processes in formal and informal settings. Facilitate compliance with institutional policies by enabling these individuals to understand policy requirements.
* Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and guidelines in functional areas, based on cases and other priorities or initiatives as identified by supervisors.
* Participate in the design and delivery of training and website content relating to research integrity. Participate in tracking completion of training.
* Monitor updates and changes in sponsor requirements and maintain a current and in-depth understanding of policies and regulations regarding research integrity.
* Enhance professional growth and development by participating in educational programs, distributing and reading current literature and conducting and participating in in-service meetings and workshops.
* Support other ORIC team members during peak times of activity.
* Comply with office practices that support the efficient operation and documentation of the research integrity program.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree required; preferably in a scientific or legal field required
* 4+ years of experience with conflicts of interest, research compliance, or comparable regulatory experience
* Demonstrated ability in utilizing independent judgment; must possess knowledge about conflict of interest regulations and practices and have the ability to identify issues and problem solve in a deadline driven environment.
* Requires in-depth knowledge about conflict of interest regulations and practices

Preferred Qualifications

* Relevant post-graduate education (e.g., JD, Master's, PhD) preferred but not necessary
* Experience at an academic, research, or hospital setting (such as grants management, clinical trial management, or research administration)
* Background in science or medicine is an advantage
* Must have the ability to identify issues and to strategize to improve processes
