Nursing Assistant

POSTION SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to provide direct care to residents, under the supervision of a licensed nurse or Medication Tech in accordance with facility policies and procedures. Report resident needs and concerns to a licensed nurse or Medication Tech. Must be able to communicate in English.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or Equivalent and must have successfully completed training as required by current state law/regulation.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and customers with experience in long-term care preferred.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Demonstrated ability to utilize independent and effective judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
DUTIES OF POSITION:
Customer Service

* Follow established standards of nursing practices to implement facility policies and procedures related to medication administration.
* Interpret existing policies and procedures related to medication administration to nursing assistants, restorative nursing assistants, residents, families and physicians.
* Provide care to residents following facility policies and procedures.
* Report residents' needs and concerns to a licensed nurse/Medication Tech.
* Assist new employees in following established facility policies and procedures.
* Initiate corrective action as necessary and/or seek assistance of a licensed nurse/Medication Tech.
* Participate in the development of an individualized plan of care of assigned residents.
* Review care plans and perform nursing care as outlined.
* Document in the nursing assistant notes the care and treatment provided to the resident and the resident's response or lack of response to care provided.
* Assure residents are given adequate assistance with personal and oral hygiene needs following facility's policies and procedures.
* Assist residents with activities of daily living as documented in the residents'.
* Assure residents have call lights at hand and answer call lights promptly.
* Listen to resident and family complaints and report problems to Charge Nurse/Resident Care Director.
* Respond to residents' call for assistance promptly.
* Perform all other duties as assigned by Management.
* Takes steps necessary to produce excellent work in any task or job that is assigned.
