Position Overview:

The Human Development and Family Sciences program within the Human Environmental Sciences Department seeks a full-time tenure track assistant professor or instructor to begin in August 2024. The Human Environmental Sciences - Human Development and Family Sciences (HDFS) assistant professor or instructor will lead the Marriage and Family Therapy graduate program and support the undergraduate programs in Child Development and Family and Life Span Development. The chosen candidate will be licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in order to guide graduates to licensing. The assistant professor or instructor is expected to deliver educational experiences to students consistent with the mission, policies and procedures of the college. Teaching, research, outreach and service to the university, college and department is expected.

College/Department Overview:

The College of Education and Professional Studies (CEPS) is a diverse unit which offers 20 undergraduate and 30 graduate majors. CEPS is home to Oklahoma's first teacher preparation academy and includes seven academic departments: Adult Education and Safety Sciences; Curriculum and Instruction; Donna Nigh Department of Advanced Professional and Special Services; Educational Sciences, Foundations and Research; Human Environmental Sciences; Dr. Virginia Peters Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies and Psychology.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

The Human Environmental Sciences Department is seeking a full-time tenure-track assistant professor or instructor to teach a combination of online and face-to-face classes. The assistant professor's or instructor's area of focus will be in marriage and family therapy. Course curriculum includes: Ethics and Issues in Family and Child Studies; Family Dynamics and Sexuality; Models of Marriage and Family; Families in Crisis; Research in HES and other courses which fulfill Oklahoma Licensing requirements for Marriage and Family Therapy. The candidate will have a state license in marriage and family therapy with supervisory experience; a therapeutic foundation such as evidence-based therapy used in couples and family centered counseling; AAMFT membership and knowledge of accreditation standards; knowledge of Oklahoma MFT licensing requirements and at least 2 years of experience in counseling. Course load is 12 credit hours a semester which will include research, advisement, assessment, online course development, grant writing, and record-keeping in accordance with university policies. The successful candidate will work in a collaborative manner with colleagues, maintain membership in professional organizations and build partnerships with campus programs and community leaders. Excellence in teaching and demonstrated and/or potential for scholarly activity is essential.

Qualifications:

An earned doctorate degree or a trajectory in a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field of Human Development and Family Science with an emphasis in Marriage and Family.

NOTE: If a doctorate is not obtained and submitted by the time of employment, the position rank will change to instructor.

Experience/Education Required:

An earned Master's degree awarded by a regionally accredited or international recognized institution in the field of Human Development, Family and Child Development, Marriage and Family Systems or Family Therapy; current Marriage and Family Therapy License; membership in AAMFT; experience teaching in higher education face-to-face and online using an online learning platform.

Experience/Education Preferred:

Doctorate degree from a regionally approved institution in the discipline of Human Development and Family Sciences. Experience with D2L and other online learning platforms.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Possess excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills. Evidence of training or research in the areas of Human Development and Family Sciences; supervisory experience.
