Summary:

Responsible for supporting all accounting and financial related activities. These include working capital management (AP/AR), financial analysis, fixed asset accounting, account reconciliations and general ledger accounting. The Staff Accountant will work closely with the Controller to ensure the accurate and timely distribution of financial and management reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Support the financial close process of multiple companies.
* Assume responsibility for the day-to-day operation of one or more sections, such as payroll, accounts payable, general accounting, or a subordinate section.
* Prepare and reconcile payroll; process and place in line for payment vendor or contractor invoices; client invoice preparation, equipment rental accounting, back charges, bank reconciliation, etc.
* Resolve discrepancies on invoices or reports by interfacing with other sections, departments, vendors (contractors), and clients.
* Make recommendations to supervisor for cost effective methods of accomplishing specific functions.
* Prepare special reports and complete other projects as directed.
* Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.

Requirements:

* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
* Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
* Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
* Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Education and Experience:

* Four-year business/accounting degree. Knowledge of general construction accounting, auditing, payroll and invoicing preferred. Good written and verbal communication skills essential.
