SUMMARY: Our team is looking for an energetic and dynamic Stress Analyst who will primarily be responsible for supporting the design, development, test, and evaluation of space station structural and mechanical components. This position reports to the Structures & Mechanisms Manager. This role is onsite and will be based at our ASTC facility.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

* Work in a collaborative engineering team environment to produce spacecraft structures for a commercial human spaceflight module.
* Perform classical and FEA (linear/non-linear statics, modal, frequency response, random response, explicit and implicit transient) analyses of flight hardware and other systems.
* Perform detailed calculations to ensure structural integrity of hardware for failure modes, including but not limited to static, fatigue, fracture, buckling, stability, and creep.
* Perform detailed calculations to ensure structural integrity of mechanical joints such as welds and fasteners.
* Uses appropriate analysis techniques, simplifications, assumptions, and experience-based judgments, to solve complex problems.
* Other duties, as assigned.

Education & Experience

* Bachelor's Degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, or related field required.
* 10+ years of experience in structural or mechanical engineering, or similar role.
* Experience with NX (Simcenter)/NASTRAN finite element modeling or equivalent.
* Experience with Fracture Mechanics and Damage Tolerance Analysis.
* Spaceflight hardware design background preferred.
* Experience with Atlassian suite preferred.

Essential Functions

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Requirements

* Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
* Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
* Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Physical Requirements

* Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
