GENERAL DUTIES

* Supervises employee productivity, competence, morale and utilization including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating performance, allocating resources, monitoring and counseling staff and initiating progressive discipline as necessary. Oversees the day-to-day clinical operations of the department and assumes authority to direct designated activities.
* Recommends, coordinates and implements new or revised procedures, departmental policies, and programs to ensure departmental effectiveness in collaboration with the physicians and team members. Performs and/or ensures quality of routine and advanced Cardiovascular Diagnostic studies including Max Stress Test, Nuclear Stress Test, ADI, Ultrasound, etc.
* Oversees Cardiovascular diagnostic equipment and the ordering of supplies with input from the physicians and senior team members. Will maintain charge master, addition of or change to CPT codes as necessary to ensure appropriate billing. Provides cost analysis when adding new procedures.
* Review the orders and the EMR. Prepares patient for the stress test:
* Verifies orders and reviews the patient EMR to ensure no contraindications and the patient has prepared for the stress test appropriately.
* Review the patient's medical history documenting all pertinent information for interpreting physician. Review patient's medication list and medications taken the day of the test for any contraindications. Assess and document any current patient symptoms. Discuss symptoms with physician.
* Explain test to patient and answer questions. Assist the patient with signing the consent form.
* Enter all proper information into the reporting template and the machine.
* Prepare the patient for the exam by placing electrodes on the appropriate area. Hooks patient to the heart monitor/stress machine.
* Performing the test:
* Perform stress test according to protocols listed in the Policy and Procedure Manuel. Monitor EKG tracing and vital signs at all times. Alert the physician if the EKG tracing, vital signs, or patient symptoms warrant.
* Once stress test is completed the patient will continue to be monitored until heart rate is back to the resting rate and the patient has no symptoms.
* Verify follow-up appointment and answer any additional questions the patient may have.
* Documentation:
* Documents each stress test in the appropriate template in the patient's electronic medical records.
* Accurately charge for the services.
* Additional duties:
* Apply Holter monitors as directed.
* Triage patients for the clinic as needed. Assist physicians with the clinic as needed.
* Maintain equipment and notify manager of any malfunctions.
* Clean equipment and restock the room daily.
* Check refrigerator temperature, O2 tanks, code cart and defibrillator daily.
* Maintain all departmental logs daily.
* Maintain code cart drugs monthly alerting the pharmacy of any expiring drugs.
* Attends in service and departmental meetings as required.

EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

* Previous work experience preferred 3 years' experience with cardiovascular diagnostic testing.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

* Required: GED / High School Diploma.
