Essential Job Responsibilities/Expectations
Reporting to the Pharmacy Business Services Director, the Pharmacy Manager, Infusion & Oncology Services is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of ambulatory pharmacy infusion and oncology strategy and services at McLeod Health. This role entails collaborating with local and system-level pharmacy and executive leaders, ambulatory infusion and oncology leaders, and leaders from internal and external infusion referral sources. The Pharmacy Manager, Infusion & Oncology Services will lead a dedicated team that delivers exceptional performance in ambulatory pharmacy infusion service operations and emphasizes business results. The scope of responsibility includes clinical pharmacy, operational, and business strategy oversight pertaining to hospital-based infusion and outpatient oncology programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Management
* Coordinate and serve as the subject matter expert for oncology and ambulatory pharmacy infusion-related matters.
* Provide oversight on ambulatory pharmacy infusion 340B program strategy in collaboration with the McLeod 340B Manager to optimize infusion program financial performance.
* Collaborate with affiliated departments, leaders, and staff to maintain program integrity.
* Provide oversight and leadership for the ambulatory pharmacy infusion program and oncology service line.
* Develop and maintain internal and external relationships to support the ambulatory pharmacy infusion program success.
* Engage with senior leadership and oncology service line leadership in decision-making processes related to oncology and ambulatory pharmacy infusion program support and maintenance.
* Develop and present routine dashboards and metrics related to inventory management, financial reporting, and compliance monitoring.
* Ensure reporting compliance with organizational, regional, national, state, and federal requirements.
* Communicate any questions, issues, or discrepancies to the appropriate authority.
* Lead, supervise, and develop key pharmacy leaders and assigned staff, fostering a high-performance culture.
Management and Oversight
* Act as Pharmacist-In-Charge.
* Optimize financial and operational metrics and systems to enhance the financial performance of system pharmacy.
* Oversee ambulatory pharmacy infusion program performance, including inventory management, medication procurement, and data analytics.
* Coordinate and lead projects and initiatives that span multiple pharmacy business lines, ensuring successful implementation.
* Assist in planning, monitoring, and managing infusion program budgets, performing financial analysis to ensure adherence to budget targets.
* Lead, supervise, and develop key pharmacy leaders and assigned staff, fostering a high-performance culture.
* Drive recruitment and hiring of pharmacy personnel to build a talented and diverse workforce.
* Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure efficient and effective ambulatory pharmacy infusion business operations.
* Drive continuous improvement and innovation in pharmacy processes and systems, seeking opportunities for enhanced performance and productivity.
* Execute organizational priorities to drive value across all areas of pharmacy operations.
* Provide transformational leadership for direct reports to assure effective integration and standardization. This includes hiring, developing, and retaining high performing team members and a structure that propels success.
* Execute on organizational priorities to achieve high- value across ambulatory pharmacy infusion programs.
* Maintain 797/800 compliance.
Business Development and Growth
* Identify and lead new oncology and ambulatory pharmacy infusion business opportunities, evaluating and operationalizing them as appropriate.
* Foster a culture of innovation to achieve results across the pharmacy enterprise.
* Collaborate with key stakeholders on ambulatory pharmacy infusion planning, business growth & development, aligning pharmacy initiatives with the organization's operating plan.
* Work closely with the system and local-level pharmacy leadership teams and executives to lead implementation of contemporary pharmacy business operations and clinical models of care to ensuring excellence in quality, safety, service, compliance, and financial performance.
Budgeting and Financial Management
* Effectively manage infusion pharmacy operating and capital budgets.
* Monitor and analyze infusion program financial data to drive informed decision making.
* Monitor budgets for compliance, investigating and explaining variances.
* Provide financial oversight and accountability, identifying and leading initiatives to grow revenue and lower cost.
* Manage routine preparation and monitoring of infusion pharmacy workload and productivity reports.
* Ensure accurate and timely invoice processing between pharmacy and accounts payable.
* Achieve key financial targets and performance metrics in the McLeod ambulatory pharmacy infusion service line.
Miscellaneous
* Develop, implement and oversee policies, procedures, and best practices in areas of responsibility.
* Collaborate closely with 340B team to optimize savings and compliance.
* Collaborate closely with ambulatory and acute care pharmacy leaders to optimize value across the enterprise.
* Drive continuous improvement and innovation in pharmacy processes and systems, seeking opportunities for enhanced performance and productivity.
* Maintain for compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
* Precept learners, including students and residents.
Job Requirements
Qualifications /Training:
* Minimum of two years of health system related experience in ambulatory pharmacy infusion required.
* Completion of an accredited PGY1 and PGY2 health system pharmacy administration and leadership residency training program, preferred.
* Strong resource optimization and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education:
* Baccalaureate degree or PharmD. Degree from an accredited school of pharmacy, required.
* Eligible for licensure to practice pharmacy in the state of South Carolina, required.
* Master's degree in pharmacy administration, healthcare administration or business, preferred.
