GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION:
The Employee Engagement Specialist (EES) builds strong relationships with employees and candidates to foster an inclusive, welcoming, and supportive work environment at TPEG. A background in the mental health field, experience as a counselor or case manager is a plus. The EES strengthens connections across the organization, promoting employee development, well-being, and resiliency. This position collaborates in building a pipeline of talent, from generating interest in behavioral health careers to supporting new hires and ensuring staff retention. The EES plays a key role in strategic recruitment, onboarding, staff development, and retention efforts that reflect TPEG's mission to serve the needs of a diverse workforce and community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Recruitment
- Lead recruitment efforts utilizing digital platforms, social media, and community partnerships.
- Attend recruitment events to build connections with community organizations, staff, and other strategic partners.
- Maintain a high level of diversity in candidate pools across all open positions.
- Collaborate with management to develop consistent, impactful outreach messaging.
- Track and analyze recruitment metrics to assess progress toward diversity, hiring, and retention goals.
2. Hiring Process
- Coordinate a culturally responsive and accessible hiring experience for candidates.
- Partner with HR to ensure hiring practices minimize implicit bias and support equity initiatives.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to identify staffing needs, screen candidates, and build interview pools.
- Facilitate the hiring process, ensuring consistency and fidelity throughout, while supporting both candidates and hiring teams.
3. Onboarding and New Staff Support
- Collaborate with HR staff, supervisors, and new hires to create supportive onboarding experiences.
- Develop individualized 90-day onboarding plans tailored to the needs of each new employee.
- Conduct regular check-ins with new employees throughout their first 90 days to ensure successful integration.
4. Staff Development and Retention
- Work with staff across TPEG programs to foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive work culture.
- Periodically attend team meetings to strengthen cross-program relationships and promote engagement.
- Develop a detailed understanding of staff knowledge, skills, and abilities to support succession planning.
- Conduct stay and exit interviews to identify trends, challenges, and potential areas for improvement.
- Recommend additional retention strategies to meet the unique needs of diverse staff.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Provide consultation and training related to recruitment, retention, and staff wellness.
- Adhere to TPEG policies and procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with internal and external partners.
- Represent TPEG by embodying the organization's mission, vision, and values.
- Occasionally travel for recruitment events (mileage, food, and lodging provided).
- Work outside regular hours when necessary.
- Maintain punctuality and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrate creativity and vision by recommending innovative strategies.
- Stay current through ongoing professional development.

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Health, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Experience:
- At least two (2) years of recruitment or human resources experience.
- At least four (4) years of combined experience in areas such as recruitment, human resources, case management, counseling, marketing, or communications.
- Experience with Paylocity or other HRIS platforms preferred.
- Experience working in behavioral health settings.
- Experience leading recruitment and retention efforts in mental health organizations.
Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to engage with diverse communities and populations.
- Experience supporting staff in behavioral health or clinical environments.
- Familiarity with equity and diversity initiatives.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality.
Licensure:
- Valid Driver's License and ability to travel occasionally.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and applicant tracking systems (ATS).
