DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepares daily batches of patient demographics and charges.
  • Inputs patient demographics and charges for office, hospital, nursing home and home visits.
  • Runs daily reports to check accuracy. Post all payments paying special attention to insurance payments and balance billing to secondary insurance or patient responsibility.
  • Corrects and rebills all denied services.
  • Verifies deposit amounts and posts to green bars daily.
  • Prepares refund requests for over payment daily.
  • Runs daily reports to balance and close each day.
  • Routinely reviews account aging reports and system collection pools and handles accordingly.
  • Updates patient accounts, verifies insurance coverage and changes patient information.
  • Responds to insurance requests and patient telephone inquiries in a positive and professional manner.
  • Prepares accounts for collections.
  • Prepares credit card payments for transmission on a timely basis.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Graduate/GED recipient required; some college preferred.
  • Previous billing experience with knowledge of third party regulations, ICD-10 and CPT coding required.
  • Knowledge and experience in basic office procedures with a minimum of 35 WPM typing required.
  • Knowledge of HCPCS coding a plus.
  • Must be skilled in utilizing standard office equipment including computers.
  • Must have the ability to multitask under time constraints.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills and is accurate and thorough in all aspects of their work.
  • Interpersonal skills must be well developed.
