Possesses the knowledge and ability to provide quality therapy, testing, and respiratory procedures under the direction of the attending physicians.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Performs diagnostic evaluation, therapy and education according to established protocols or physician instruction.
* Demonstrates competency in ensuring patient safety at all times.
* Effectively communicates with patients, family members, hospital staff and physicians.
* Provides appropriate patient care and anticipates patient/family needs and comfort.
* Abides by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
* Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

* Thorough knowledge of Respiratory Therapy diagnostic, treatment and education.
* Strong skills in using software such as Excel, Word, EHR Systems, etc.
* Medical terminology.
* Superb organization skills, follow-through and attention to detail.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

* Graduate of an accredited program of Respiratory Therapy.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

* 1-3 years of experience in a critical care ICU setting.

REQUIRED LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:

* Healthcare Provider BLS-if BLS is not AHA, AHA BLS is required within 3 months of hire.
* Healthcare Provider ACLS and PALS are required within 6 months of hire. (PALS not required for employees in the Cardiac Rehab department)
