Possess the knowledge and ability to provide quality therapy, testing, and respiratory procedures under the direction of physicians.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Performs diagnostic evaluation, therapy and education according to established protocols or physician instruction under the direction of a Licensed Respiratory Therapist.
* Demonstrates competency in ensuring patient safety at all times.
* Effectively communicates with patients, family members, hospital staff and physicians.
* Provides appropriate patient care and anticipates patient/family needs and comfort.
* Abides by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
* Serves all patient populations - newborn through geriatric.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

* Demonstrates a working knowledge of human anatomy and physiology
* Demonstrates ability to verify physician orders, and complete therapy accordingly
* Knowledge of Respiratory Therapy diagnostic, treatment and medical terminology.
* Demonstrates good typing skills and a working knowledge of computer and software.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

* Actively enrolled in an Associate degree program or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in Respiratory Therapy.
* Completed 1st semester of Clinical rotation

* N/A

REQUIRED LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:

* American Heart Association BLS.
* Exempt from licensure, as a Student enrolled in an accredited program
