Paraprofessional 23-24 About RISE Prep Mayoral Academy RISE Prep Mayoral Academy is a college preparatory K-8 public charter school located in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. Approved by the Rhode Island Board of Education in October 2014, RISE Prep opened the doors to the inaugural class of Kindergarteners in September 2015. To ensure excellence and quality as RISE Prep grows, the school follows a slow growth model and will grow one grade each year until it reaches its full K-8 enrollment. RISE Prep Elementary School will educate scholars in grades K-8 in 2023-24. Through a rigorous curriculum, highly structured learning environment, and character education, RISE Prep Mayoral Academy ensures that all Kindergarten through 8th grade scholars achieve the academic skills, content knowledge, and character required for the path to college. RISE Prep is dedicated to providing a high quality education to ALL scholars. RISE Prep joins Rhode Island Mayoral Academies in establishing intentionally diverse schools that enroll from both urban and suburban communities. We believe that part of our mission is to teach the importance and value of diversity within classrooms and communities. RISE Prep curriculum includes character education and community engagement in our model to ensure habits of service, helping, and kindness are fostered within our scholars to shape engaged and caring members of their communities.

Qualifications for Paraprofessionals RISE Prep is committed to finding dedicated, hard-working educators for every classroom. We will consider candidates who:

* Embody RISE Prep Mayoral Academy's mission, vision, and RISE values (Respect, Integrity, Self Determination, Excellence)
* Believe in the urgency and importance of providing an outstanding college preparatory academic and character education to all scholars and have a "whatever-it-takes"attitude
* Take ownership for the academic results of their scholars
* Work well within a team and approach all work with positivity and determination
* Are goal-driven, analytical problem solvers, and embody a can-do spirit and strong work ethic
* Are committed to ending the disparity in high quality options between urban and suburban communities in regards to education
* Completion of a Teacher Assistant Pre-Employment Training Program approved by the RI Department of Education (RIDE). There are three (3) exceptions to this particular qualification: -Those hired before January 1, 1999 -Those with certification as a TA in another state -Those with an associates degree or bachelor's degree AND who have completed coursework or other training consistent with the teacher assistant program standards. It is a district's decision whether coursework or other training is consistent with the teacher assistant program standards.
* AND have met at least one (1) of the following: -Successfully pass the ParaPro Assessment with a score of at least 461, OR -Hold an Associate's Degree or higher, OR -Have at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education

Responsibilities Paraprofessionals at RISE Prep will:

* Provide engaging, differentiated, appropriately paced, and rigorous instruction based on the individualized learning plan of the scholar they are working with
* Track data aligned to the individualized learning plan as needed
* Support the use of an iPad for communication needs, while also lifting up verbal communication when necessary
* Establish and maintain a culture of achievement, upholding school-wide and class systems, rules and consequences, and rewards at all times
* Model the school's professional and ethical standards when interacting with all stakeholders
* Participate in planning sessions with the teaching team
* Follow behavior intervention plans with fidelity
* Be in frequent communication with families of the scholar they are working with
