Description:

Under moderate supervision, repair, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment, instrumentation and support systems of moderate complexity used in healthcare delivery. Inspect, install and perform inventory assessments and preventative maintenance of medical equipment. Assist medical and nursing staff in the use of equipment where able.

Minimum of an Associates of Applied Sciences Degree in related field of medical electronics, electronic technology or equivalent military or related training required. CBET certification preferred.

2. Three to five years experience or equivalent, performing corrective and planned maintenance on medical devices and/or clinical support equipment.

3. Must have a basic understanding of electronics, networking, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

4. Working knowledge and ability to use basic hand tools and test equipment specific to the field. Ability to train CE associates on use and application of select test equipment.

5. Must have knowledge and understanding of OSHA, NFPA, The Joint Commission, CAP, FDA and other specific regulations and standards pertaining to clinical equipment service and repair.

6. Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity and caring with ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals and values of Trinity Health, Ministry Organizations, and Clinical Engineering.

7. Ability to operate complex test equipment, analyze and interpret information provided by equipment and clinical staff to determine equipment operational condition.

8. Must have basic understanding of personal computer operation, applications, and ability to input data using keyboard. Technician must be able to follow complex written instructions, perform tasks and document actions taken.

9. Strong customer service communications skills are required to interact with hospital personnel and vendors to achieve positive outcomes.

10. Ability to provide or coordinate in-service training to clinical/professional staff on medical device operations and safety functions.

* Repair, install, maintain, calibrate and inspect medical and biomedical instrumentation equipment, including life-support equipment.
* Perform preventative maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices and systems.
* Diagnose and correct system and equipment malfunctions.
* Maintain documentation on new equipment, inspections and equipment repairs and failures.
* Assist with and evaluate third-party repair as necessary.
* Provide technical assistance and instructions on equipment operations and maintenance to personnel.
* Review outcome of preventive maintenance actions and make recommendations to department staff concerning improvements.
* Provide mentoring to other biomedical equipment technicians.
* May assist senior biomedical engineering technicians or supervisor with in-service educational programs on use of equipment.
