Certified Nurse Aide

NURSE AIDE- TRANSPORT/PREP AIDE
Works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. The Nursing Aide performs basic patient care activities according to age appropriate and developmental needs of the patient. . Assists all departments with delivery of patient care by providing patient transportation to and from diagnostic and treatment units. Assists in lifting and positioning patients May be required to work on other nursing units as assigned. Assists with delivery of patient care by providing patient transportation as appropriate. Should be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit. Performs other duties as assigned.
1. Performs basic patient care activities according to the age appropriate and developmental needs of the
patient.
2. Observes patients and reports any change in conditions to registered nurse.
3. Assists with admission, discharge and transfer of patients.
4. Answers call lights and responds appropriately.
5. Straightens patients' rooms, changes linens, performs routine department tasks.
6. Transports patients as appropriate.
7. Provides care for patients during transportation.
8. Orders supplies needed for patients and replenishes stock.
9. Utilizes positive communication skills to affect conflict resolution and teamwork.
10. Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
11. Contributes to cost effective patient care by monitoring use of time, equipment and supplies.
12. Complies with safety policies and procedures in order to provide a safe environment for employees,
patients and visitors.
13. Demonstrates necessary flexibility in regard to changes in Hospital or department activities.
Transport/Prep Aide:
Works under the supervision of Director. Assists all departments with delivery of patient care by providing patient transportation to and from diagnostic and treatment units. Assists in lifting and positioning patients. Performs surgical preps under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Patient care activities are performed according to the age appropriate and developmental needs of the patient. Should be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her department. Performs other duties as assigned.
1. Transports patients to and from clinical and ancillary departments.
Provides care for patients during transportation.
Assists in care and maintenance of equipment.
Observes patients and reports unusual conditions to Registered Nurse.

7. Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills:
Experience: One year acute care experience preferred.
REQUIRED:
* Completion of Nurse Aide Certification course or equivalent combination of education and experience
