Orna Therapeutics is a Watertown-based biotechnology startup on a mission to create therapies for diseases inaccessible to existing approaches. Built on novel circular RNA technology developed at MIT, Orna is leading the next wave of RNA therapeutics with our best-in-class expression and delivery platform.

Job Description:

This Northeastern Co-op position will provide an opportunity to support Orna's Business Development (BD) activities as well as Alliance Management (AM) responsibilities. The BD function at Orna is primarily responsible for engaging with potential partners and managing processes around deals. These include both partnerships with larger companies that have interest in licensing or collaborating on Orna's platform technology, as well as opportunities to collaborate with other small biotech companies to combine technologies. The AM function at Orna is responsible for managing active partnerships and working closely with the project teams formed to support the activities required to advance research studies and programs with partner companies.

Note that Responsibilities listed below represent a range that could arise during the six-month period. The Co-op will likely focus on a subset depending on company circumstances and BD/AM needs.

Responsibilities:

* Help maintain Orna's database of potential partners and support outreach / networking efforts, and track interactions and key takeaways as well as next steps


* Help communicate feedback and direction to Executive Team and respond to any questions that they may have regarding potential partnerships


* Develop an understanding of the Orna BD strategy as well as the platform and research strategy and program prioritization


* Support any active BD discussions or deal processes


* Help organize around conferences and prioritize meetings based on strategic direction, as well as summarize and highlight any next steps


* Help maintain and advance Orna's competitive intelligence database


* Support Alliance responsibilities as needed, including helping to manage the organization of meetings, internal and external communication, and supporting project teams' needs


* Generate systems and/or processes to streamline BD and/or AM efforts


* Collaborate with other functions within Orna to obtain cross-functional perspectives and help synthesize information for presentation or to inform strategy


* Support any other activities that fall under the scope of the CBO and Corporate Development, including landscape analysis, financial assessment, contracting, and other strategic initiatives



Qualifications:

* Pursuing a B.A./B.S. or Graduate Degree in Scientific or Business field


* Understanding of scientific fields including biology and chemistry


* Understanding of basic principles of business, economics, and/or financial assessment


* Understanding of biotech and pharma industries including key companies and fundamental aspects of therapeutic products (e.g, small molecule vs. biologic)


* Ability to work in Microsoft Office suite - PowerPoint, Excel, and Word


* Strong analytical capabilities, ability to think strategically, and project management skills


* Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with diverse teams across the company


* Ability to work through ambiguity and uncertainty, form perspectives without having the total picture, and effectively pose questions to identify information required for decision-making
