About the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH):

Role Overview:

The Youth Engagement Coordinator is responsible for daily activities related to the Indiana Youth Advisory Board (IYAB) and youth engagement and development. The Youth Engagement Coordinator will oversee IYAB projects and work with internal and external partners to carry out the objectives of the Indiana Department of Health Maternal and Child Health Division, Family and Social Services Administration Division of Mental Health and Addiction, and IYAB youth and young adult board members. The Youth and Family Engagement Coordinator will be subject to a flexible work schedule, with some evening and weekend meetings and events required.

Salary Statement:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $47,320.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

* Assess current public health issues related to a program area.
* Maintain an effective liaison and referral system between the agency, local health departments, health clinics and other service providers.
* Direct the development of public health programs, policies and procedure manuals.
* Manage a grant or budget for a specific public health program allocating resources and determining expenditures.
* Collect and analyze relevant program data and makes available to state and local agencies.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:

* Extensive knowledge of public health theories, principles, practices and strategies.
* Considerable knowledge of the organization and function of state and local health agencies.
* Considerable knowledge of program planning and implementation techniques.
* Working knowledge of public health laws governing state and local health jurisdictions.
* Effective communication skills.
* Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other local, state and federal agency staff.
