Overview

The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Division of Population Sciences is currently seeking a Research Assistant I to work on cancer research projects that focus on adult patient populations. The Research Assistant's efforts will primarily be focused on maintaining regulatory documents, enrolling and tracking study participants, administering survey to study participants, medical record abstractions, and tracking all study documentation.

The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Division of Population Sciences conducts a wide range of research projects that aim to reduce health disparities, promote healthy behaviors, promote best practices in health communication, manage genetic cancer risk and susceptibility, design effective and efficient cancer care delivery systems, and optimize care quality.

Responsibilities

Under general supervision, the Research Assistant I may be responsible for some or all of the following:

* Contact, recruit and enroll research participants.
* Collect and enter research data.
* Administer surveys/interview with research participants.
* Maintain databases (with emphasis on data entry) and project documentation with accuracy.
* Assist with documentation for and communication with the institutional review board (IRB).
* Maintain the security and confidentiality of all study materials and data.
* Conduct focused medical record abstractions for patients enrolled in studies
* Conduct relevant literature searches and reviews as requested.
* Assist team in the coordination of project-related activities
* Other project-related or administrative responsibilities as requested by management.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

* Work will be conducted primarily in the office and clinic with some remote flexibility as projects and responsibilities allow
* M-F, 20 hours per week

* Bachelor's degree in public health, natural or social science preferred, but not required.
* Prior experience in public health or patient services strongly preferred, but not required.
* The ideal candidate will have interest and experience in the following area(s):
* cancer care/oncology
* social behavioral research
* patient-reported outcomes
* patient-clinician communication
* public health
* medical record abstractions/data collection

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

* Excellent interpersonal skills, dependable, motivated and willingness to learn new tasks.
* Computer skills, including prior use of Microsoft Office products.
* Ability to relate effectively in-person and on the telephone to diverse groups of patients, community members, physicians, nurses, and researchers.
* Excellent organization, communication, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills.
