POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Project Accountant is responsible for coordinating all phases of the construction job costing process including categorizing, recording, analyzing and monitoring costs and billings associated with a large construction project as well as several smaller less complex projects. This position also assures vendor compliance in order to manage project risk. This role is assigned to a large construction project, working closely with the Project Manager to assure timely and accurate accounting and risk management throughout the project life cycle.

What you'll do:

* Compiles, prepares and analyzes monthly project billings per contract requirements for more complex accounts.
* Monitors budgets and commitments, processing subcontractor and vendor invoices, preparing drafts of owner invoices, and resolving issues.
* Partners with the project manager and other team members to monitor overall job financial status.
* Collaborates by preparing for and attending progress and division meetings.
* Prepares monthly reports with current estimates and identifies risks or opportunities.
* Prepares special analyses as required.
* Serves as mentor and provides training to or supervise less-experienced Project Accountants.

What you'll need to be successful:

* Excellent accounting knowledge
* Excellent organization skills with high level of attention to detail
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to transfer knowledge to junior level staff
* Excellent ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
* Excellent to analyze and resolve difficult issues
* Excellent ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
* Excellent computer proficiency and technical aptitude with intermediate to expert level ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, etc. required
* Ability to remain flexible in a rapidly changing environment
* Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent preferred
* 5+ years of Project Accounting experience preferred
* Experience in construction preferred
