POSITION SUMMARY

The Project Accountant is responsible for coordinating all phases of the construction job costing process including categorizing, recording, analyzing and monitoring costs and billings associated with a large construction project as well as several smaller less complex projects. This position also assures vendor compliance in order to manage project risk. This role is assigned to a large construction project, working closely with the Project Manager to assure timely and accurate accounting and risk management throughout the project life cycle.

What you'll do:

* Compiles, prepares and analyzes monthly project billings per contract requirements.
* Performs financial analysis and reconciliation of project costs versus project budget.
* Manages vendor compliance, insurance, lien waivers, retention and W-9s
* Produces and analyzes job performance and profitability through jobs cost tracking reports.
* Assists in preparation of status reports and maintains accurate project statuses and budget information in COINs.
* Identifies and resolves basic and more complex project-related accounting issues and resolves in a timely manner.

What you'll need to be successful:

* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred or equivalent experience
* 3-5 years' of project accounting experience preferred
* Strong accounting knowledge
* Strong organization skills with high level of attention to detail
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Strong customer service skills
* Strong analytical skills
* Strong ability to prioritize and multi-task
* Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
* Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with intermediate to expert level ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, Power Point, etc. required
