Custodial Extended Employment

POSITION TITLE: Custodial Extended Employment (Summer 2024 Reading Camps) REPORTS TO: Principal BEGINNING DATE: Open Until Filled

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

* Some knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment
* Some skill in the use of small equipment used in routine cleaning
* Ability to understand and follow simple oral or written directions
* Ability to follow a rigid time schedule
* Ability to lift moderate to heavy weight (40-50 pounds), 25 pounds routinely and 100 pounds occasionally and be able to stand, walk, run, bend, stoop, push, pull, reach, and climb ladders, for extended periods of time
* Ability to reach with hands and arms routinely and to carry furniture (such as tables, chairs, supplies and materials)
* Ability to work around harsh chemicals
* Must be able to travel to a variety of school sites

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

* Successful work experience
* High school diploma or equivalence
* Current Onslow County Schools 10 month employee

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: July 01, 2024-July 02, 2024 & July 08, 2024 - July 26, 2024

SALARY: Hourly rate $17.00 per hour

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Stripping and Waxing floors
* Pressure washing (outside in the elements)
* Scrubs, dusts, sweeps, mops, vacuums, hallways and closets.
* Dusts and arranges furniture.
* Washes windows, woodwork, walls and other surfaces.
* Scrubs and cleans rest room fixtures.
* Replenishes tissue, towels, and soap in rest rooms, kitchens and classroom facilities.
* Empties wastebaskets and other trash receptacles.
* Locks and unlocks doors.
* Sorts and stores material for recycling program.
* Reports to supervisor any damages or needed repairs.
* Picks up paper and other trash in school building or on school grounds.
* Turns heating and air conditioning equipment on and off.
* Adheres to mandated uniform procedures.
* Performs other duties as specified by the Principal, Maintenance Director, or designee.
