What You'll Do:

As a Health, Safety, Environmental & Security Specialist, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation by performing essential functions related to health, safety, environmental, and security programs and issues. The Health, Safety, Environmental & Security Specialist will interact and work with the research & development, internal and contracted maintenance, and engineering departments, and other internal clients, to provide support related to regulatory compliance and the development of practical solutions related to occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, training, fire protection, emergency management, security, and recordkeeping, as well as implement and develop new programs for compliance and continual improvement of HSES performance.

What We're Looking For:

* Provide leadership, counsel, and technical assistance to the site to achieve HSES goals.
* Develop and conduct safety training as needed.
* Leading/coordinating site safety committee
* Participate in site emergency planning, drills, and incident response(s)
* Evaluate new chemicals for approval.
* Prepares updates to site safety policies and programs.
* Maintain recordkeeping as required by regulations and company policy.
* Serves as a point of contact for internal and external audits and inspections.
* Performs duties related to site RC14001 Responsible Care Management System (RCMS)
* Assists with corrective actions from internal/external audits, inspections, and visits.
* Lead/participate in safety incident (i.e., near miss, injury, etc.) investigations and root cause analyses.
* Work with site personnel to improve process safety elements (e.g., management of change).
* Conduct hazard assessment activities (i.e., issuing permits, process safety reviews, etc.)
* Serve as site emergency response team member and incident commander, including responding to site for off-hours emergencies.
* Manage site environmental programs (e.g., RCRA, SPCC, SWPPP, etc.).
* Prepare regulatory permits and reports.
* Support site industrial hygiene programs.
* Additional duties as assigned.

Skills That Make a Difference:

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in science (chemistry, biology, etc.), engineering or other technical field
* 5 years of safety experience in the chemical industry.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
* Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
* Previous PSM and HazMat experience preferred.
* Professional certification (e.g., ASP, CSP, CHMM).

Working Conditions:

* Spends 50% or greater of workday in the field
* Able to climb ladders
* Able lift 50 pounds
* Able to don PPE (e.g., hard hats, hearing protection, respirators, safety shoes, etc)
